Nungarin is a small Wheatbelt Shire in the Central Wheatbelt of Western Australia and located approximately 300kms East of Perth.
Our school motto is “Sharing Knowledge Together“.
Nungarin Primary School was established in 1913. And was supported by many students from the 5BOD Army Camp that had originally set up an Ordinance Base in Nungarin during the war. From early enrolments of up to 100 students, we currently now fluctuate numbers of between 15 and 20 students.
Trends following the finish of the Base Ordinance Depot showed that students were mainly from a farming background. However, due to the decline in farming over recent years our farming families are now the minority group of our student population.
We have managed to maintain 1 school bus route for students who live out of town and this is serviced by PM & RE Geraghty.
In 2018 we have 16 students enrolled, shared between 2 classrooms. Our students are divided into the 2 classrooms each morning – a K-2 class and Years 4-6, and in the afternoons mainly combine into 1 classroom.
Our school is resourced with laptops and iPads for every student. Students participate in Indonesian as a second language and this is sourced through the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE)
Our school is part of the Eastern Wheatbelt Education Network (EWEN) which is made up of Southern Cross, Moorine Rock Primary School, Nungarin Primary School and Kellerberrin District High School, Bruce Rock District High School and Merredin College. The collaboration allows us to use our collective buying power to access training and resources locally at best cost. This partnership also gives us a diverse way to meet the needs of our students through shared learning goals, learning teams across schools and whole of network strategies.
We have a group of supportive parents and community members who support our school in many ways. P&C meetings and School Council Meetings are held once per term (4 per year) and our P&C maintains the supply of school uniforms for both students and staff.
Nungarin Primary School exists to provide a place that promotes student enjoyment and the necessary knowledge, skills and values that empower all students to realise their potential as independent, responsible, active members of our community. Our vision is achieved in partnership with families and the community.
Nungarin Primary School is a Level 3 Primary School and provides educational services to the children of Nungarin and surrounding farms. Our school has students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
The Nungarin P&C Association holds their Annual General Meeting in February each year, followed by a general meeting at the conclusion of election of Office Bearers.
General meetings are held once per term at the school (usually 4 meetings per year), and mostly on a Wednesday afternoon (early close day, immediately after school).
Dates for meetings will be published in the school newsletter and on the school calendar.
